Investing in yourself first supports you and your whānau, it then reflects through your mahi, which is where we reap the benefits of investing in you. And by ripple effect, the wider community benefits.

KĀINGA HAUORA

CRITICAL REPAIRS

In early 2020, we were approached by Te Puni Kōkiri, Hawkes Bay District Health Board and Wharariki Trust in regards to their Critical Repairs / Child Healthy Housing Programme which supports Māori home owners. The kaupapa of the programme primarily is to identify critical repairs of a whare to achieve a warm, dry and secure environment with the end goal of improving the health outcomes of tamariki and whanau whānui.

This journey has allowed us to carry out some of the most rewarding work we may ever come across, it is not architectural or glamorous, but to witness a mould ridden bathroom with holes in the floor, be transformed to a simple functioning wash space, or to put hot running water back into a whare that has just gone 2 years without it and then to see the value this mahi adds to the lives of each whānau cannot be easily articulated.

What we do know is that this has influenced who we are as a company and as a team. It goes beyond our ability to just build or turn up to site, it allows us as Māori to give back to Māori and this is the ultimate accomplishment.

K3 KAHUNGUNU PROPERTY

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH AWARD

In April 2022 we were awarded the Business of the Month Award by K3 Kahungunu Property.

Here is what they had to say: “This whānau owned, community minded business take such great care of their team. We've never seen the Apprentice pathway to success mapped out the way Manzis do.

🏆  Manzis actively promote wāhine in trade and their Apprentice @Areta_Crawford has just been awarded EIT Hawke's Bay Top Student for Level 3 Carpentry 2021.

🥇 They were also finalists for Best Emerging Business & Outstanding Community Contribution Finalist in the Pan Pack Hawkes Bay Business Awards 2021.

Ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini | My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective.”

As the recipient we thank K3 for this special acknowledgement and for working alongside our team. The support and mentorship we receive from K3 inspires us to remain focused on the kaupapa of strengthening growth in trades within our communities.

When we recruit, a key point we discuss in the interview is something that is important to us as employers - "Investing in yourself first supports you and your whānau, it then reflects back through your mahi, which is where we reap the benefits of investing in you. And by ripple effect, the wider community benefits". And of course, we pay gratitude to our Manzis Build whanau, including our trade colleagues. All of whom make this mahi so enjoyable and rewarding.
