WOMEN IN TRADE

Carpentry is not only heavy lifting and wielding a hammer, it takes mathematical skills and a sharp eye for detail to successfully execute any carpentry project – skills and competencies which are not reliant on gender but instead on an individual’s abilities. Our very own Areta Crawford has been a great example of what women can achieve in the industry, having been with us on work experience via EIT Hawkes Bay throughout 2021, receiving the EIT Top Student in the NZ Certificate in Construction Level 3 Carpentry Programme for 2021 and showcasing her skills both in theory and practical as a first-year apprentice, she is definitely a role model for all aspiring tradies.

If you’re in Hawkes Bay and are invested in pursuing your carpentry career, we recommend contacting your local trades training institute to chat with one of their helpful team.
